As we noted in our last blog post, the fall weather in the south is often perfect for making use of porches and patios. Even on evenings when it gets a bit chilly, it is easy to warm up with a cozy fire in the fireplace or a light blanket. With that peaceful image in mind, we wanted to share two recent projects we completed using Phantom Screens retractable recessed units. One project features a screened porch leading to an open deck and the other features a covered patio.
With the patio project, we faced the challenge of making sure the units blended perfectly with the design and décor of the covered patio. The floor is a beautiful bluestone, so we used a gray weight bar and gasket at the bottom of the screens for a streamlined look when the screens are down. The homeowners can now enjoy the outdoor patio throughout the year with the confidence that the high-quality look of their patio remains the same whether the retractable screens are in use or not.
The second project we are featuring this week is a screened porch with recessed units that leads out onto an open deck. The fireplace on the porch is an added bonus for making the porch enjoyable into the winter months and the Phantom Screens provide a needed layer of protection from the elements. Additionally, this lovely home sits on a wooded lot with quite a few “critters” and bugs, so having the option of retractable screens was needed to ensure unfettered use of this space.
These are just two of many options available to help homeowners maximize the use of their outdoor spaces as the air turns cooler.
